Individual Clients

Well aHead offers a range of clinical services, including psychological assessment, formulation and intervention, to individuals and corporate clients. I believe that a thorough assessment and a sound formulation of a person’s difficulties are essential components of all successful therapeutic work. At present these services centre on issues relating to adults and older adults.

Assessment

The term ‘assessment’ essentially describes the process of collecting relevant information about a person and the difficulties that they are experiencing. A full assessment of a person’s needs is absolutely essential for any programme of support to be successful.

Formulation

Formulation is the process of making sense of the information that is gathered in an assessment, and using that information to create a productive way of helping a client.

For many people, understanding the difficulties that they or their relatives experience, can be the key to making positive changes in their lives.

For many psychological difficulties, formulation is replacing diagnosis as the main framework for making sense of people’s experiences. Formulation aims to empower people by identifying areas for change and development, whereas diagnosis often leaves people feeling dependent on professionals to solve their difficulties.

Therapeutic interventions

Well aHead offers a wide range of clinical services for a variety of difficulties, using the most up to date evidence to inform our approaches. Well aHead offers a range of therapy models encompassing cognitive therapies e.g. cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), behavioural approaches, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), hypnotherapy/hypnosis, relaxation therapy and coaching. Well aHead aims to match our approach to the needs of the person and to ensure that our work is informed by the most up to date evidence on what works best with the difficulties that the person is experiencing.
